ET rejects petition against Palwasha’s Senate nomination papers

KARACHI:The Election Tribunal of the Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday rejected an appeal filed by Sindh Indus Lawyers Forum against acceptance of Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) candidate from Sindh Palwasha’s nomination papers for Senate polls.
The Election Tribunal of the SHC heard an appeal filed by Aqib Rajper and Khalil Ansari of Sindh Indus Lawyers Forum against acceptance of nomination papers of Palwasha, the candidate of PPP from Sindh, for Senate polls.
The Tribunal rejected the appeal and declared PPP’s candidate as eligible for contesting Senate polls on Sindh’s ticket. Appellants’ counsel could not satisfy the tribunal on the objections.
Palwasha is not from Sindh and the facts are hidden, she belongs to Chakwal, the petitioner stated. She made her identity card from Sindh on January 11, the petition said. In the petition, the data including the transfer of Palwasha’s vote from Chakwal to Karachi has been challenged.
Palwasha did not even write the name of her husband in the nomination papers, Aqib Rajpar said in his petition. Election Commission declared Palwasha’s nomination papers valid, Khalil Ansari stated.
