(City): PMA upset over Motorway incident in Lahore

Karachi:Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) Saturday expressed concern over the atrocity that took place on Motorway on the outskirts of Lahore.
Secretary General, Pakistan Medical Association (Centre), Dr SM Qaisar Sajjad, in his statement said the incident had shocked whole society as the woman was molested in front of her children. People are furious and questioning the performance of the state institutions responsible for providing protection to the citizens of Pakistan.
He said irresponsible Comments of CCPO Lahore had fueled the situation and caused outrage for blaming the victim. This statement reflects the usual police attitude towards victims of sexual violence, who are blamed and often treated as criminals.
PMA believes that the statement of CCPO is just desertion from responsibilities. It is the responsibility of the police to provide security to the people round the clock. They cannot refuse to provide security at night or at any deserted road.
Dr Qaisar Sajjad it seems our society is ethically deteriorating; our norms regarding respect and protection of women are weakening. As a society we will have to think over the situation to make it completely safe for women. It has proved that there is law of jungle in Pakistan. Our news which reflects our society both starts and ends with negativity and crime reports. These effects the youth negatively and damages their brains.
He said this lawlessness in the society was not acceptable to anyone. We demanded from the government to make all the citizens of Pakistan safe, particularly for women and children. We also demanded that criminals involved in this heinous crime must be arrested and brought to justice immediately.
